Tsitsinta Alexandra
The general title of my work is "New Code". The coding and decoding messages via barcode creation programs are immediately necessary and characterize the future of a whole generation. Words and phrases that are encoded, quite caustic and accurate refer to the outbreak of the financial crisis and the trapping and control that now govern the modern citizen.
The codes of the countries the products are made play an important role in the creation of codes where the first three digits relate to a country for which the work or the coded phrase is created.
Using the Barcode as raw data I created a new global visual language, where the symbol is translated into speech but it also retains the dynamic as an image too. The chromatic austerity and the frequent use of black-white and intense contrast, the limited color range, combined with the design accuracy, emphasizes the conceptual dimension of the subjects chosen, which are associated with the symbolism and codes used reveal a mood of research and skepticism.
