Greek Printmakers Association presents, in its exhibition space “ΕΚΤόΣ”, an exhibition by Vanessa Touzloukof : “dans les jardins obscurs”
The artist, in this exhibition, approaches the archetypal garden with its contrasts. As an explorer, she dives into the unconscious seeking reconciliation with solitary exploration, encountering unfamiliar creatures in the shady paths of an overgrown mind. The extracts of these shady gardens were created with extended techniques of the art of imprints, selected for their immediacy.
As she writes: “A path that led to the gardens was revealed to me through thorny clumps of mental and physical pain. According to Carl Jung, the archetypal garden, as a mother symbol, has two aspects: one tender, beautiful, fascinating, one aspect shelter, indulgence of the senses, offering goods and pleasures and the other unfamiliar, with secret corners that guard against dangerous, vegetable with inhabitants of a fluid identity, grids of paths leading to uncertain destinations, glades where seduction lurks, loaded with luscious and possibly poisonous fruits.
This fenced place is not a paradise, but a sacred place where peace alternates with anxiety, fertility with decomposition, death with denaturation.
Walking around the strange nature of the gardens, I made an effort to record, capturing parts of the material around me and giving them, with their reconstruction, a new existence. ”
Born in Athens, she graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts with degrees in painting (Kokkinidis, Botsoglou workshops) and printmaking (Milios, Kazakos, Tsalamata workshop).
My favorite teachers, Vassilis Haros, Ines Piqueras Garcia,
