the big ΜΠΑΜ theory, 60x80cm , linoleum 2021

With both twisty lines, either as a style or a form, and the vivid contrast of the black and white prints as components of the exhibition, there is a synthesis of prints being configured at the exhibition hall. The dramatic narrative as well as the Manichean semiotics of light and darkness are features that may be blunted upon lacework of printing. Images instead of texts coexist with visible or hidden interfaces, intending to let reason, intuition and the visitor’s ‘directed’ free associations be aroused and drifted by their whirl.

Vanta Mavroidi was born in 1980. She graduated from the Department of Chemistry (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) in 2004; from the Department of Fine and Applied Arts in 2011 (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) with a direction of ‘painting’. Both Kyriakos Mortarakos and Giorgos Tasakiris were her professors, while she was taught by Xenis Sachinis at the printing art studio. She is a member of the Greek Printmakers’ Association. She has already held an individual art exhibition in her hometown, Volos, but also she has participated in group exhibitions and festivals.
